DIY Impression Mat - Fondant Diamond Pattern (Quilt) Marker
Written by Larissa Voln
Hi everyone!
Just wanted to share a quick Do-It-Yourself project: impression mat / Fondant Diamond Pattern Marker which will help you to make a perfect quilted or polka dot pattern on your cake in case you don't have the "real" tools available to you.
DIY multi-blade ribbon/strip cutter for fondant, gum paste, dough, playdough, polymer clay (FIMO) or clay.

Today I'd like to share with you my new favorite tool: the ribbon cutter. But not just any cutter! There are a few readily available products on the market, but, unfortunately, they either hard to get hold of, or create more of a headache then anything, or they cost a small fortune and still I wish they were performing better.
This one you can easily make yourself, it can make almost any width strips and ribbons out of any rollable moldable medium that can be cut with a pizza cutter. And it makes beautiful clean cuts on any thickness of rolled fondant, dough or clay!
Fondant Winter Christmas Tree covered with Snow (Cake Decoration)
Written by Larissa Voln
An easy video tutorial on how to make a Christmas tree out of fondant, gum paste or modeling chocolate. Enjoy!

The recipe for this gingerbread dough was kindly shared with me by my Finnish neighbor Kaija. I love it so very much!!! It makes the best gingerbread cookies I ever tasted! I just had to tweak it a little tiny bit by using honey instead of corn syrup (it just adds another fantastic layer of flavor) and subtracting some baking soda so it puffs up less in the oven, especially if you use honey as it reacts with baking soda making the dough rise. The original recipe does not call for ginger, and really is complete even without it, but I add it anyway. After all, this is gingerbread :)
Gingerbread cookie dough recipe
2/3 cup [(two thirds) of (1 US cup) = 157.725491 milliliters] dark corn syrup or honey
1 + 3/4 cup sugar (white, brown, or combination of two. The more brown sugar you use, the more flavor it adds)
1 + 1/2 cup unsalted butter (250g)
6 cups AP flour
3 large eggs
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp ground cinnamon
2 tsp ground clove
2 tsp ground ginger
Pinch of ground nutmeg
